I found myself in Leeds the other day on some adventuring.

We booked a very short stay at Hyatt House in Leeds - checked in at 10pm, checked out at 11am next day. It’s right next to the city centre and river walk.

I’m sure, like most other hotel chains, Hyatt has a loyalty scheme. I have yet to explore this. This particular establishment also has a gym, a bar and a rooftop latin American restaurant, which I also have not explored. I believe the gym is complimentary and it looked better equipped than most other hotel gyms (from the outside).

The aesthetics are nice, the room was good but not sound proof, which is a luxury that I am constantly disappointed by in these otherwise fancy places.

Our room was on the far end of the 11th floor so we had a lovely partial view of the train station and nearby surroundings.

It was clean, had a little microwave and fridge, basic tea and coffee, plates and utensils (no hob or anything like that) - but it lacked any liquid handwash for some reason. We had shower gel and no time for following up so made due with what we had.

We booked breakfast included, so in the morning we went for breakfast. This is your typical hotel breakfast - your variety of hash browns, eggs, Cumberland sausages and bacon, which tend to be cooked to a crisp, how I like it. In this instance, the sausages and bacon were still squealing and the eggs were barely cooked. The cold breakfast (pastries, fruits, yoghurts, granolas etc) was varied and it compensated for the rest. Of course, complimentary coffee or tea.

All in all, good experience with a few hiccups. I’d rate it 8/10, with the main drawbacks being the somewhat disappointing breakfast and weird lack of soap in the room toilet, but that could probably be a very short phone call away for a resolution.

We paid £84 for one night. Very happy with that price.
