Amsterdam, Holiday Inn Noorderpark
This time, to Amsterdam.
Holiday Inn Noorderpark is in the North side of Amsterdam, in a much less busy area than Centraal. It’s pretty chill and you can reach the centre by using a free ferry service.
We stayed for about 4 nights, and had an excellent view of the city.
A clean room, a good bed, a nice view - sound isolation present, AC, all basic amenities covered.
The bed was the highlight - really good mattress and had a restful sleep. The rest of the room was…okay. Plenty amenities that we didn’t use. The toilet was clean - the shower as well. Modern finish - we had a corner room which meant we had a really nice view at night. The river and the constant traffic gave me plenty to watch as I don’t understand Dutch dubbed TV.
This is a pretty large hotel - about 15 stories tall, with a restaurant/lounge/breakfast area/bar/reception/everything room on the ground floor. It’s cute but really, just your above average Holiday Inn experience.
I read it has a gym although I have not visited yet on this occasion.
The only detractor was the breakfast. It really was a bit of a let down - had a few basics but definitely not equipped and diverse enough for the amount of people this hotel is hosting. Usually IHG Hotels tend to cover breakfast pretty well - but this one was a disappointment.
Luckily for the trip, there are plenty of good places to eat in Amsterdam so don’t let this be an issue.
Taking the ferry, coming into the city centre is a nice experience. This ferry is 24/7 so you can come back after your late night walk just the same.
Overall it’s a good offer - and seeing as Centraal is a close (20 minute or so) walk, avoiding all the insanity of city centre, I enjoyed it.
I’ll rate 8 out of 10 mainly due to the fantastic view we’ve had. We paid £550 for 4 nights. That works out about £138 per night with breakfast included.
Would do it again.
